The Gays are one of the many prison gangs inside Emerald City. They are viewed as one of the weakest gangs in Oz, both because the majority of inmates in Oz are homophobic and because they are not in control of anything. The gays are lead by Richie Hanlon until his death, then by Tony Masters, and then by Alonzo Torquemada when he arrives to Oz. In the first half of the series, two of their members, Billie Keane and Richie Hanlon, are bullied respectively by The Italians and The Aryans. In second half of the series, however, some of the gang collaborate with The Irish, The Italians, The Muslims and The Latinos due to their personal friendships. The Gays include Rohan Quine and Fiona Zonioni. Most of the time the gang members are background characters, but occasionally they hold importance to the storyline of major character.
Plot Summary
season 1
- episode 1.1 - Billie Keane is brutally beaten by Dino Ortolani in the bathroom after flirts with him. His brother Jefferson Keane takes revenge by hiring Johnny Post to burn Dino
- episode 1.3 - Billie Keane returns from hospital but is discarded by his brother for being gay
season 2
- episode 2.4 - Richie Hanlon is brutually raped by Mark Mack and other Aryans in his pod. He is later convicted of murder and pleads guilty to the murder of Alexander Vogel, after being forced by Karl Metzger who is actually an Aryan member.
Season 3
- episode 3.4 - Richie Hanlon returns to Em City but is killed by Nikolai Stanislofsky in the showers.
- episode 3.6 - Chucky Pancamo summons Kiki Faye Downing and Tony Masters to his cell and sets them up as go-betweens who'll ensure Nat Ginzburg steals Antonio Nappa's unpublished memoirs.
- episode 3.7 - Kiki Faye Downing and Tony Masters deliver Antonio Nappa's stolen memoirs to Chucky Pancamo, confirming to him that Nat Ginzburg will kill Nappa. Ginzburg murders Nappa, who is now his cellmate, in the AIDs ward on the orders of Pancamo.
Season 4
- episode 4.4 - Jason Cramer is released from Oz with the help of Kareem Saïd
- episode 4.6 - Nat Ginzburg, who is now in death row after confessing to the murder of Antonio Nappa, dies of AIDs.
Season 5
- episode 5.8 - Agamemnon Busmalis recieves a letter from his fiancée and he asks Fiona to read it to him.
Season 6
- episode 6.7 - Alonzo Torquemada arrives to Oz and takes over The Gays.
