Unit E, also known as the AIDS Ward, is an inmate containment unit featured in Oz.

Structure[]
In Season 1, Unit E appears to be an extension of the hospital ward. Dino Ortolani is sent to work there as punishment for some violence against a homosexual inmate. Most of the inmates in this Unit E are bed-ridden, and as such require assistance in various tasks.
In Season 3, Unit E is redesigned from an extension of the hospital to a proper unit. This version bears similarities to Unit J as well as the psych ward, featuring actual prison cells instead of just beds.
In Season 6, James Robson is allocated to Unit E on the account of his HIV status.
Notable Unit E Prisoners[]
Here are some of the notable prisoners who lived in Unit E:
- Antonio Nappa - He was moved to Unit E after being infected by an HIV-laced needle by Simon Adebisi.
- Nat Ginzburg - A homosexual cross-dresser, he was Nappa's cellmate during Nappa's time in Unit E.
- Emilio Sanchez - A very sick Latino inmate, he was one of the prisoners Dino Ortolani met during his time working in Unit E.
- Robbie Gerth - Another sick inmate. Adebisi uses his blood to infect Antonio Nappa with HIV.
- James Robson (mentioned) - Relocated due to being infected.
